Our fine jewelry is made with love, meant to be low maintenance, worn daily, and last beyond our lifetime for generations to come. With this in mind, all our jewelry is subject to general wear as the years go on, which gives it a unique character that represents the many invaluable moments it’s accessorized. If you wish to keep your jewelry looking as vibrant as the day you purchased it, there is a tad bit of maintenance required. As with everything - consistency is key!

General Best Practices When Wearing Your Fine Jewelry

As we have mentioned previously, your Sita jewelry is meant to be worn every day, but within reason. We always recommend removing your jewelry when high impact working-outs, gardening, playing sports, or lifting heavy objects - basically at any time your jewelry could get harmfully exposed to the elements for a period of time. Our long-standing mantra is always “if you’re unsure, then take it off.”

Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions if you’re unsure if the activity you’re doing will scratch, tarnish, or damage your jewelry - a word of caution, if you have to ask it’s likely yes! But we encourage you to ask anyways, you can never be too safe!

How to care for your Jewelry

We recommend letting your jewelry sit in warm soapy water for a few minutes and then cleaning it gently with a soft-bristle toothbrush to avoid scratching. If you have a few pieces we encourage you to invest in an Ultrasonic for regular maintenance and cleaning. After you have removed most of the dirt and grim be sure to dry each piece off and give it that extra shine with a polishing cloth.

It’s important to take note of the gemstone that is in your jewellery, as certain stones require extra cleaning measures. MOST diamonds, sapphires, and semi-precious stones are more than ok to go through the polishing process outlined above. More delicate stones, such as emerald, opal, and pearl, and tourmaline require the utmost care and won’t hold up if exposed to any harsh soaps or the ultrasonic.

If you’re nervous or unsure of how to clean your jewelry we happily offer 1 free cleaning a year on Carli Sita pieces only. We only ask that our clients cover the additional shipping costs required for every clean.

Storing Your Jewellery

It’s not uncommon to go through phases with your jewelry (we do it all the time). If you’re not wearing certain pieces regularly we recommend storing them in an airtight pouch to keep them from tarnishing. Make sure you polish sterling silver before you store it, as the oils from our skin, mixed with oxygen will tarnish it quickly.
